I get asked a lot about the process of custom invitations. So, I thought I would write a quick post to fill you in on the Paper Fling process so that you can be prepared and informed!
Your initial design consultation will take place over the phone, over facetime/skype or in person at our studio in Kirkland, WA. At this meeting we will discuss your design ideas, colors, graphics, etc. You will receive a quote on the spot and can choose to place your order by paying a 50% deposit.
Place Your Order
Once you have placed your order, you will be sent a link to your client portal where you will be able to digitally sign your contract, fill out wording worksheets and access a record of our communication. We will also email you over any additional resources you may need such as font options, address templates, etc.
One of the best things about working with Paper Fling is that we provide you with an extensive proofing process that includes an actual print proof. So many of our clients tell us that receiving that proof in the mail is what made getting married feel real! I love getting to be a part of this super special part of your life!!!
Your initial proof will be mailed within 10 business days of wording worksheet submittal. We include up to 2 print proofs and 2 PDF proofs for each order to make sure that everything is right. Make sure to pay attention to details – colors, grammar, dates/times, etc. You are responsible for giving us the final sign off before we go to print.
Once your proof is perfected, it is time to give us your final approval. You will need to give us a final quantity as well as Your Guest Addresses (if you have ordered address printing) at this time as well.
Make sure to start working on your guest addresses well ahead of time – I have had many people tell me that collecting all the addresses was a lot more work than they anticipated.
I also ask that you pay the balance on your order when you give me your final approval.
Once your order is approved, we will be busy ordering your paper, printing your pieces and assembling everything if you have ordered assembled invitation.
It is good to know that “assembled invitations” does not mean that everything is stuffed for you – it just means that the layers are all adhered and any accoutrements such as ribbons or wax seals are assembled in place. You will still need to stamp your rsvp cards, stuff everything in the envelopes, seal and send.
Most of our orders are shipped to our clients by UPS ground. You can choose other options such as rush shipping or on-site pick up if needed.
